Last week I was so bored that I spent most of my freetime watching films. Birdman was something that I would have loved to watch a long time before, but I had no chance. Now that I've seen it, I think that I can make a decent review.
Birdman or "The unexpected virtue of ignorance" is a black humour film that plays with the mind of the viewer, concretely with their perception of the main character Riggan Thomson. Riggan is a famous cinema actor, who performed the character birdman a long time ago. Birdman is a superhero that appears in the film as the critical spirit of a non-mature public. Riggan fights against the society conception of art as an explosion compilation with an adaptation of a comedy for live representation. But he is not OK, which gets reflected on his performance, his personal life and his bussiness. His alter ego has made his conscience go upside down, and gives him no chance to recover while his stress is destroying him.
I think that talking more would be like spoiling the readers who haven't seen the film. I really encourage you to do so if you haven't done it yet.
In my opinion, Birdman, deserved all the Oscars it won and more if possible. It is a genuine film with very modern techniques in it. You may have noticed that there is only one image change in the whole film, the rest is the same perspective all time. It looks as if it had been recorded with only one take. The music is amazing as well, because it's from inside Birdman's world making you get deeper in it. It's amazing how your mind twists in some specific moments during the film. The end may look non-sense but it isn't. In my opinion it has 3 ways of interpretation. 1.-He dies, so Sam feels no more pressure. 2.-He flies so Sam feels proud. 3.-He imagines how he would have liked to finish his days.
